It all comes down to this:

I just got back from a swing through Southwest and Western Virginia, with stops in Lee, Craig, Bath and Highland counties – just to name a few.

Now, there’s a lot to love about every community in Virginia, but this part of the state is one of my favorite stops. Just ask my campaign manager – I’m always telling him we’ve got to get one more Southwest swing into the schedule.

And I’ve got to admit, I may be a bit biased – because I first won this Senate seat because of the organizers, activists, and voters in Southwest and Western Virginia.

Now, I have a few more wrinkles than I did in those photos from 2008, but I keep showing up in these communities for a much more important reason: I’m a Senator for every Virginian, no matter your zip code or who you voted for.

That’s why I’ve fought for millions of investment into broadband expansion – because every zip code in Virginia needs access to high-speed internet to compete in the 21st century economy. And soon, Virginia will be among the first states in the country with universal broadband access.

It’s why I’ve fought for our rural hospitals. One of the proudest days of my career was the reopening of Lee County Hospital in 2021. Today, that hospital is once again at risk of closure because of Donald Trump and congressional Republicans’ massive cuts to Medicaid.

And it’s why I’ve long championed CDFIs (Community Development Financial Institutions) that make it easier for businesses and families to access the capital they need to invest in their futures.

It all comes down to this: Where you start should never determine where you end up. But it’s not lost on me – we’ve got a lot more work to do to make that a reality. That’s why I’m asking Virginians to hire me one more time.

And over the next 64 days, I’ll keep making my case to voters – by showing up in their communities, talking to Virginians directly about the issues facing their families, and telling them more about my agenda for my next term in office.

Just like on my very first campaign, I’m not taking any vote, any community, or any outcome for granted.

We’ve got just 9 weeks left; let’s make them count.
