My first ad:
I just launched the first TV ad of my reelection campaign. It’s about artificial intelligence and my plan to tackle this issue head-on.
AI is getting a lot of attention right now, and with good reason.
Look, I helped launch the cell phone revolution. But AI is bigger.
This new technology contains a lot of promise… and it also poses serious threats to our economy, privacy, national security, and more.
And frankly, grappling with the changes AI will bring to our workforce and our communities is a huge reason I decided to run for reelection.
We need to keep human beings in charge of technology, not the other way around. And just as important, we need to make sure working Americans – not just the giant tech companies – are the ones who stand to benefit.
The challenges facing our country are huge. There’s no doubt about that.
But this president and his administration? They don’t seem to have a clue what to do about it. They don’t even seem to care.
I’ve already introduced a comprehensive AI framework to kickstart Washington’s response to this massive technological change:
To set federal standards for data centers – ensuring they don’t pass off costs onto you and that they are set back an appropriate distance from residential communities
To put protections in place for our children’s health and safety
To prepare our national security for the massive new risks we’re already facing
And to prevent wide-scale job loss and a mass economic disruption
But I’m not stopping there. I’ll work with anyone – Democrat, Republican or Independent – who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and find real solutions to protect our communities.
What we need now is more leaders in Washington ready to take bold action and who aren’t afraid to stand up to the giant tech companies.
That’s why I’m humbly asking Virginians to re-hire me – and why the first ad of my reelection campaign is focused on this critically important issue.
